Report: Packers' Raji out for year
(SportsNetwork.com) - Green Bay Packers nose tackle B.J. Raji will miss the 2014 season with a torn bicep, according to a report by NFL.com.
Raji suffered the injury during Friday's 31-21 preseason victory over Oakland.
A first-round pick of the Packers in 2009, Raji has played in 76 games with 63 starts. He has 129 tackles, 10 1/2 sacks and eight passes defensed during his five seasons with Green Bay.
Raji slid back into the nose tackle position this year after playing defensive end the last few seasons.
Without Raji, the Packers will turn to second-year pro Josh Boyd and undrafted rookie Mike Pennel to fill in for Raji in the short term. Green Bay signed Letroy Guion this offseason to be Raji's backup, but he is currently battling a hamstring injury.
