MS Senate Primary Result Headed To Court

(Jackson, MS) -- The loser in a hotly-contested Republican Senate primary runoff in Mississippi is challenging the result in court. Tea party-backed Chris McDaniel filed the legal challenge Thursday, claiming people who had voted in the Democratic primary went on to cast votes for his opponent, Thad Cochran. He also claims election records were mishandled by poll workers. McDaniel lost to the six-term incumbent by roughly 77-hundred votes on June 24th.
