Lobbyist Ban Loosened

(Undated) -- The Obama administration is loosening up on its ban of lobbyists serving in government. The new rule allows registered lobbyists to serve on government advisory boards as long as they are representing companies or groups, and not acting on their own behalf. The change was published in the Federal Register Tuesday and takes effect immediately. The new rule stems from a lawsuit filed by six lobbyists who claimed their First Amendment rights to petition the government had been violated.
