Israel Rejects U.S. Ceasefire Proposal With Hamas

(Cairo) -- The violent conflict between Israel and Hamas is expected to continue after Israel rejected a U.S. ceasefire proposal. Speaking in Cairo, Secretary of State John Kerry vowed to continue efforts to end the fighting.
The U.S. plan called for a week-long halt in fighting on humanitarian grounds. Kerry called the ongoing violence agonizing. Kerry has been working around the clock in the Middle East to broker a ceasefire deal as heavy fighting has gone on for more than two weeks and left hundreds dead.
