Missouri Governor Seeking Federal Help For Ferguson Businesses

(Jefferson City, MO) -- Missouri Governor Jay Nixon wants the U.S. Small Business Administration to make low-interest loans available to businesses that were damaged by riots and looting in Ferguson. Nixon has filed a formal request asking the agency to declare an economic injury disaster in the region. Economic injury disaster loans provide necessary working capital until normal business operations resume. Ferguson was rocked by weeks of unrest last month following the police shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.
