UN Security Council Urging Ceasefire

(New York, NY) -- The UN Security Council is calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. The UN's statement calls for Israel, Palestinians and Hamas militants to implement a truce that goes beyond a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan. All 15 members of the council have agreed on the statement and it will be formally adopted later tonight. Rocket fire and shelling subsided Sunday leading to hopes of a truce before Monday's holiday.
