Somali Official Says U.S. Drone Strike Hits Militants

(Undated) -- A government official in Somalia says a U.S. drone strike hit a village held by Islamic militants. The regional governor says the attack on Monday appeared to target an al-Shabaab camp where top rebel leaders have been meeting. The official says the leader of the militant group was in the village, but there's no word on whether he was killed or wounded. The Pentagon said the Monday operation was being assessed but did not release details on the mission or whether it succeeded. Al-Shabaab claims links to al-Qaeda and aims to launch attacks beyond Somalia.
