Botox Being Tested Against Stomach Cancer

(Undated) -- A new study shows that Botox may not only fight wrinkles, but stomach cancer as well. Scientists tested the drug on mice and were able reduce the number of tumors in their stomach. Botox also helped boost survival and the effects of chemotherapy. Researchers used Botox to paralyze nerves that are connected to tumors in the stomach. The study is published in the August 20th issue of "Science Translational Medicine."
The American Cancer Society is intrigued by the results but says experiments like these have been done for decades and "the actual translation into benefiting patients is uncommon."
