(Los Angeles, CA) -- A rare Monday broadcast is delivering some of the best ratings the Emmy Awards has seen in years. Nielsen numbers show 15-point-six-million viewers tuned in to the Seth Meyers-hosted telecast on NBC, making it the second-biggest audience for the Emmys since 2006. NBC's broadcast of the star-studded television celebration marked the first time since 1976 that the Emmys had been held on a Monday. The ceremony also took place in August, instead of its traditional September appearance, so as to not interrupt NBC's highly-rated "Sunday Night Football" schedule next month.
NBC's Emmys had little competition from other programs that aired on other networks Monday night. CBS was a distant second with five-million total viewers, followed by Fox with four-point-six-million viewers and ABC with four-point-two-million viewers.
