There is a lot of talk today about what direction the Republican Party needs to go?  What do we do?  Jamie opened it up to all listeners to hear where do we go from here?  How do we rally together so that this doesn’t happen again?

I think it is good for us to do some soul searching at this time.  We have a hard battle to fight here.  Jamie said yesterday this is going to be hand to hand combat in the trenches.  We are dealing with an entitlement ideology, and the only way we can win is if we show that our platform will absolutely change people’s lives for the better.

Again, we need to do better with the messaging.  We need to break this idea that the Republican Party is only a bunch of old white men.  We have extreme diversity and we need to start showcasing that.   I don’t think we do what a lot of the political pundits are saying and start pandering and buying votes.  We need to work on getting creative with the message, being straight forward and stop being so squishy.  Let’s unapologetically be us and stop flipping around to gain votes.

Plus, I know this is going to be hard for some of us Evangelicals, but we need to stop trying to legislate life styles.  We need to be consistent with our message.  We can’t say we are the party of small government until we want our pet project to pass.  We are about personal responsibility so let’s make that every aspect of our platform.  This doesn’t mean I am asking you to suddenly become prochoice or pro-gay marriage.  I am saying that we look like hypocrites when we want to pick and choose how limited we want our government to be.  Either you want limited government or you don’t.  We are about freedom and sometimes that means putting up with things you don’t like, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still educate your children about the values you hold at home.

I’d love to hear from you.  What do you think?  Am I completely off base?  Comment below, let me know what you think we need to do as a party so we can start reclaiming America and our freedom.

The argument above makes sense but when I dropped by to listen today, all I heard was Jamie making fun of "old men". It is perfectly reasonable to say the party needs to embrace it's younger and fresher faces. The meanness is what many people object to.
