You're Not Calling Me

Ok so here we go, I am probably going to make many of you mad this morning, but it's time. I love you all, I really do. However, when you call, you call to talk to Jamie. Some of you may be saying duh, but I cannot tell you how many calls I get where you seemed shocked when I try to rush you and get you on hold. The whole point is not to talk to me, it's to talk to him ON AIR. Surprise! He loves you guys and he wants to talk to you. Some of you might say, but I call and I get put on hold and he never gets to me. See if you can tell me your point quicker and I can get you on hold, we can solve that problem. The faster the process between you and me, the sooner he can see what your call is about and get to you before he goes to break and moves on to another topic.
Also, it's great that you guys want to give information, but again, if you aren't willing to go on the air then you need to email it. Any articles you have read or background information you might think is worth knowing, email it to him. I have been told, "I don't do email." Here's the thing with that friends, email has been around for the public to use for almost two decades now. It's clearly not a fad that's going away. It's time to jump aboard and ride the digital wave. And what's more is your tax dollars pay for the public library, where you can go use a computer if you don't have one and set up an email account for FREE! Exciting I know.
I know I may come across as snarky, but it's because I am actually working here. I don't have time to write down EVERY tip I get. This is a fast paced show and it requires a lot of behind the scenes work. I am looking for news, I am pulling more sound, cutting things up for the internet, calling our guests and so much more. I know it's because you care about the show and are personally invested, but if you all knew how many of you call to pass something on, you would get my point. Let me call you at your desk let's say at least 30 times within four hours and see how effective you are at completing your tasks or how your boss feels about it. And I am not exaggerating.
Also, some of you get the impression that because you aren't hearing Jamie talk about an issue it is because I personally am not educated on what's going on and you need to tell me all about it. I actually have a great education, so I really don't need a mini lesson over the phone. Furthermore, didn't I just tell you either go on the air or email it? Last, and I know this might be hard to take, but did you ever consider that no one cares, but you? This is again where email is awesome. It allows you to email Jamie and tell him why he should care, why this story is important. Maybe you have a take on it that he hasn't considered.
Unlike many shows, Jamie chooses everything that you hear on the air. He puts a lot of time and effort into every second of the show. If you aren't hearing, it's not because he doesn't know about it, it's usually because: he has nothing to add that isn't already out there, he is waiting for more development before he comments, or he doesn't want to talk about it. Not to say he can't change his mind, but passing on another piece of information through me will not sway him as much as you emailing him or hanging on to talk to him.
Like I said, I love you all, and I'm not trying to piss anyone off here. I'm just being honest so that you can contribute to the show, but I also can keep doing my work.
