New Car Smell

You're looking at pics of my BRAND NEW CAR!
I've never had a new car before. It's quite exciting.
It's a 2010 Kia Soul Sport. They call the color Molten, but let's get real, it's just red.
Which means I took the fortune cookie's advice, and I ended up 'buying the red car.' Crazy.
I will miss my VW Bug, but I'm already digging driving the Soul.
In about a month I'll make my annual trip to the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Il, and now I'll have a new car to drive there and back!
We have a PACKED show today, so make sure you tune in at 4pm to hear cast members from Young Frankenstein, and at 5pm we'll play the Elite 8 of the best guitar solos of all time!

How racy is too racy for a beauty pageant?
Many people are upset (some would say 'outraged,' but that seems extreme) at a collection of black and white photos of Miss USA contestants that were released this week.
The pageant is trying to grab headlines (success!) with these shots of the girls posing on beds in lingerie.
The only shocking thing about these photos is the fact that people are shocked!
Not only are the shots tame, but this is publicity for a BEAUTY PAGEANT. What else are these girls judged on? Their smarts? Their contributions to society? Nope. For every piano-playing talent display, there is an evening gown and swimsuit parade that's all the more important.

First things first, Iron Man 2 is AWESOME! Go see it if you enjoyed the first Iron flick. I'll have a full review today at 5:08 on the DGS, and tomorrow between 2p-4p on Max on Movies.
I'm on the hunt for a new car, y'all. My beloved powder blue (read: Vapor) Volkswagen Beetle has gone to the great junkyard in the sky.
At least the Bug lasted longer than Lucy, my first car. She was a white Honda Civix DX, and boy was she a lemon. (Surprising for a Honda, I know.)
Oh, and this is pretty funny. Yesterday I had chinese food for lunch, and I opened up my fortune cookie, and this is what it said:
BUY THE RED CAR.
How crazy is that????!?!?!?!?!?
So now I'm on the lookout for another car, this time I think I'm going to buy a brand new ...

Hoo boy am I super excited. (Do people say 'Hoo Boy' anymore?)
Tonight I'll be seeing a double feature on the big screen, Iron Man at 9:30pm followed by Iron Man 2 at midnight!!!
I missed the screening they had for us movie critics on Tuesday because I saw Pearl Jam (who were incredible) so this should be a whole lot of fun to see both flicks back to back.
I'll review the film tomorrow on the DGS at 5pm, so tune in for that.
Dave will be back from New York tomorrow too, so you'll be able to hear all of his stories from the Big Apple.

FM News Talk 97.1 now has a WEB CAM!
ZOMG.
Yes, during Allman in the Morning you can check out Jamie's Nascar hats, Denys' electric sweaters, Carl's iPhone monitoring and Becca's frantic phone screening.
During the Dana show you you see an ULTRA close up of Dana's face while she broadcasts, and you can watch Kevin run the board and glare at me at Liz, who usually dance while the phones ring.
During the DGS, we keep the studio dark and cave-like, so good luck seeing ANYTHING! Seriously though, you can now watch Dave, Tom, Mark Klose and I play the Elite 8, Battle of the Halfwits and Stump the Studio!
This web cam stuff is crazy. I don't even have a Facebook (should I get one?) so this whole interwebs thing seems so foreign to me. But I know the kids get a kick ...
Free Comic Book Day!

Free Comic Book Day is a single day - the first Saturday in May each year - when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE to anyone who comes into their stores.
When I first heard about Free Comic Book Day a few years ago, I couldn’t get to my local comic shop (LCS) fast enough to pick up the latest copy of Strangers in Paradise, Bone, and Spider-Man for free. Um, no such luck.
The customer doesn’t get to choose which 2 or 3 comics they can have for free, the shop does. What’s more, publishers like DC and Marvel usually print special ‘one-shot’ books featuring Spidey or Bats or whoever specifically to be given away for free.
Still, it’s a nice excuse to go to your LCS on a Saturday instead of Wednesday. (If you’re not a comics ...
Dave Glover Kick Off Cook Off

Thanks to everyone who came out to Cabela's on Friday and Saturday and made the first annual Dave Glover Kick Off Cook Off BBQ competition a success!
We broadcast the show live from the cook off on Friday, while the brisket and beer were flowing. (Can brisket flow?) We had a pretty good sized crowd, and I can't remember ever signing so many T-Shirts!
Of course the Glover Gorilla was out there too - you can't keep him away from BBQ and beers.
Dave's team, which included Fast Eddie, Terry Black, and Marc Bulger (on beer drinking duty) came out winners in the end - 8th place for brisket, 5th place for pork, and 1st place for the audience choice award!
Woo Hoo Yay!
