Are the Kardashians more important than 9/11?

At 8:46 A.M. Eastern time yesterday, ABC and CBS broke out of their morning shows to carry live coverage of a moment of silence for victims of the 9/11 attacks. It was the 11th anniversary of when the first plane struck the World Trade Center.

But on NBC, the Today show ducked out to stick with its programming...an interview with KIM KARDASHIAN'S mom KRIS JENNER, who was talking about her televised boob job. (???)

New York magazine noticed it right away, and put together an amusing split-screen video, which shows Today show host SAVANNAH GUTHRIE talking with Kris about her chest...over the near silence from the other stations.

So while the other networks...not to mention Fox News, CNN and MSNBC...were commemorating the worst terrorist attack ever committed on U.S. soil, Kris was talking about what a "great idea" it was to film her latest boob job. She said, quote, "It was so important health-wise to remind women that, you know, check your expiration date because it's a health risk." (Kris was replacing implants she got back in 1989.)

NBC is defending their decision. A spokesperson says, quote, "The 'Today' show dedicated a considerable amount of time to September 11th coverage this morning throughout the entire show."

To be clear, they did air a long segment on the 9/11 attacks earlier in the show...and NBC's New York affiliate DID break out of the Kris Jenner boob talk to carry live coverage of the moment of silence.

Still, instead of a moment of silence for 9/11 victims, NBC aired an interview where Kris Jenner talks about breast implants. Which officially marks the most offensive, disrespectful thing NBC has ever done to the American people. Second most, if you count renewing Whitney.

Think that's crazy? Political correctness gone WILD doesn't even BEGIN to describe this one. An elementary and middle school principal in Portland, Oregon just spoke out against PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY SANDWICHES...for being culturally insensitive.

40-year-old Dr. Verenice Gutierrez is the principal of Harvey Scott K-thru-8 School in Portland. It's a school with 500 kids: 50% are Hispanic, 15% are black, 9% are Asian, and 85% are eligible for free or reduced-price meals.

So according to the Portland Tribune, Principal Gutierrez, quote, "picks up on the subtle language of racism every day." For example, last school year a teacher used a peanut butter and jelly sandwich as an example in a lesson. And now, she'd recommend against that.

Quote, "What about Somali or Hispanic students, who might not eat sandwiches? Another way would be to say: 'Americans eat peanut butter and jelly, do you have anything like that?' Let them tell you. Maybe they eat torta. Or pita."

Although apparently she isn't worried about telling these kids they're not American because they don't eat peanut butter and jelly? Even though most of the kids probably ARE American, with foreign-born parents. UGH.
