It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's What's Left of Tony's Hair!

A few years ago we had a very silly contest here called Mr. 97.1 that posed the question: ‘Whose hair is prettier, Max or (Dana Show producer) Kevin?’

This was a big deal on our web site; we took a ton of (goofy) pictures, and even shot video:

I eneded up winning by a large margin, due in part because someone out there apparently cheated somehow on my behalf, giving me a ton of votes. To this day I think Dana and Kevin believe I was behind that, but honestly I didn’t care enough to go out of my way to cheat. :)

At the end of the contest both Kevin and I had our heads shaved for Locks of Love (something I’ve donated to again, just last month).

Well today our own Tony Colombo is getting his head shaved, for a very special charity you can find out about by clicking HERE.

I’ll update this blog throughout the show with more pics of Tony’s freshly shaved head, and we will have video on the website soon as well.

If you watched my Mr. 97.1 video you’ll recall the first thing I mention is losing my comic book collection in a basement flood. Since I mentioned that on the air, I’ve had a few listeners offer their collections to me. It’s a very touching thing but I’ve always turned them down because I had a very specific collection and it didn’t make much sense to take on random books.

But a few weeks ago listener John contacted me offering up his collection of Superman action figures, statues, and a few long boxes of books.

I met John today (he’s been a big fan of the DGS for years and geeked out meeting Tom Terbrock) and he was a really nice guy (with a cool Superman shield tattoo). John gave me his collection (pic on today’s blog) and I’m excited to go through it over the weekend. Thanks John!

Speaking of Superman, have you seen the teaser trailer for Man of Steel?

Clark Kent is played by HENRY CAVILL, the teaser features a voiceover by KEVIN COSTNER, who plays Jonathan Kent. It appears that Clark spends some time at sea, which is annoying to some nerds because in the comics, Clark Kent spent his entire young life in SMALLVILLE before moving to Metropolis to become a reporter.

Perhaps this is how Clark finds the Fortress of Solitude?

The movie comes out next June. It's directed by Zack Snyder, who did 300 and Watchmen...and is produced by Christopher Nolan who, I shouldn't have to tell you, is the mastermind of the Batman trilogy.

The Christopher Nolan connection probably explains why this movie looks grittier than any Superman movie that's come before it. But is that a GOOD thing?

Discuss.

I feel lost! I wanted to watch the webcam to see Tony's haircut and there is no link on the DGS page anywhere....searched the site and there is no obvious link! Help for future moments I can catch! :)
