Pour Some Sugar on Us

Last night Mark Klose and I attended a special screening of the new musical Rock of Ages at the brand new and very impressive 5 Star Lounge at Wehrenberg Des Peres cinema.
I don’t normally enjoy musicals but I found Rock of Ages goofy and fun, and Tom Cruise is excellent as aging rock god Stacee Jaxx.
Cruise trained with a vocal coach to nail his performance, and I’ve included an MP3 of him singing a bit of Def Leppard’s Pour Some Sugar on Me on today’s blog so you can hear how he sounds.
Not too shabby, eh?
Speaking of Def Leppard, have you heard the cover they did a few years ago of Street Life by Roxy Music? I’m a huge Roxy fan and I think it’s a pretty cool cover.
For covers of a different sort, check out the pics on today’s blog.
You’ll see grown up versions of famous kids from the covers of iconic rock albums.
That kid from those early U2 records looks exactly the same!
Allow us to congratulate ourselves briefly as KFTK won a Missouri Broadcaster’s Award for Community Service (for the DGS broadcasting a live drive for supplies for Joplin) and the Dave Glover Show won 2 MBA Awards: one for Best Sports (with Rich Gould!) and one for Best Editorial (Dave’s rant about 50 Ninjas….ask me about it sometime).
Woo Hoo Yay!
