ATTENTION PARENTS AND TEACHERS:
97.1 FM Talk and Sylvan Learning are recognizing achievement in education. If you know a Sylvan student who has excelled in education with the help of Sylvan learning, submit them now as student of the month.
In 97 words or less tell us why you or your student should be chosen as Sylvan Learning's Student of The Month. 97.1 and Sylvan Learning will choose a new student every month. Students of the Month will be featured in a video success story featured on the Afternoon Recess page. At the end of the school year all selected students will be invited to a Sylvan Learning recognition party with 97.1 FM Talk's Dave Glover and they will receive a certificate of achievement in education.
Contest Rules Students must be available for one day during the last week of the month for a 1 hour video shoot Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. Students must currently be enrolled in the Sylvan learning program. Students must have a parent or guardian present with them at time of video shoot.
"Alex started with our Academic Reading program in October 2007. Since then, he has completed a progress assessment, in which he has shown over one grade level gain in his vocabulary and comprehension skills. Mom has shared with us that Alex now shows a greater interest in reading, both at home and at school. The teachers at school have also seen a great improvement in his spelling skills, and overall reading comprehension. Alex feels that he is a much more confident and successful student."

"Josh used to come home from school, go right up to his room and throw on his headphones. Now he shares his day with me and it's all because of Sylvan's help. The instructors helped him master the learning skills he needed."
-Josh's Mom "My refrigerator used to be covered with my son's schoolwork. But when he got older it all stopped. That was until about a month ago. I went to the kitchen and there it was, a giant red 'A' looking right at me. I have Sylvan to thank."
-Andy's Mom
"Lauren used to love doing her homework. As she got older though, she became more frustrated with her workload. Lauren's a good student, but she couldn't imagine herself succeeding. Then one night she handed me her completed work with a big smile. Sylvan gave Lauren her confidence back."
-Lauren's Dad
"Hunter's grades were slipping and I could tell he felt upset with himself. Now, his grades have improved and he feels great about school, and it's all because of Sylvan's help."
