St. Louis Public School Employees Take Paycuts

11/20/2009

Employees in St. Louis Public Schools agreed to take temporary pay cuts to help reduce a $13 million budget shortfall.  The district School Board on Thursday voted to place all staff on required furlough, which will likely take place during two work days when students are not in classes, and it will also close the district seven more days around the winter holidays.  District administrators predict the pay cuts will save up to two-million dollars, leaving another eleven-million dollars in cuts in order to balance this year's budget.
