Pimp His Ride!
Allman in the Morning listener Holly Wehrle works for American Space Constructors, Inc., a company that employs a Navy reservist named Keith Newton, whom she describes as 'a great guy, hard worker and loyal American service man.' Holly sent us an e-mail she recently received from Keith detailing how he contacted MTV's 'Pimp my Ride' and asked them to revamp his crew's vehicle, a KIA Bongo. (They don't even sell those in the states!)

Here is an excerpt from Keith's e-mail to MTV:

My name is Keith Newton of the United States Navy SeaBees, a construction Battalion in the Navy. We build and support the United States Marine Corp. We are in Iraq, and we have this vehicle that we use for work. It is some kind of a KIA Bongo. We have put a string from the carburetor to use as a throttle because the throttle cable has seized up on us. We have put four-wheeler tires on the back of it because we have no way of replacing the tires that have blown out. This thing right now looks like Jed Clampet STOLE it and OWNS IT! The thing is, here on base we do not have any way to get tires for it, or any other parts that we may need to keep this beat-up clunker running. So we had an idea to see if we could get Pimp My Ride out here and PIMP our Little Bongo, for the rest of our deployment. And then maybe it would go to some unfortunate Iraqi family that could put it to good use. Our base is going to be closing down by sometime this fall and we figured MTV would be thrilled to come out here and do an episode of Pimp My Ride right out here in Iraq with the United States Marines and Navy SeaBees. It would be greatly appreciated from everyone here, to have the entertainment of MTV's presence here and I am sure the folks back home would love to see it too.

All of us at Allman in the Morning hope MTV comes through for this Navy reservist!
