The Switchfits, a local teenage band, was just selected as a semifinalist by School Jam USA, a "one of a kind battle of the bands competition" that is seeking the best band in all the high schools across America.
10 bands in 5 different regions were selected. Voting begins 11.01 to 12.05 and the top 2 vote getters in each region will be flown to Anaheim, CA for the finals and the winning band will travel to Europe next March to perform at the 2010 School Jam Germany finals in Frankfurt.
Voters can go to the School Jam USA site, www.wannaplaymusic.com/programs/schooljam-usa, and vote once daily. Every vote is important.
The Switchfits are looking for support from their hometown, St. Louis and the Midwest region which they represent.
The students and music programs in the high schools are encouraged to participate. There are prizes that will be raffled, just for voting (camcorders, ipods etc). The more votes submitted, the more chances your name will be eligible for prizes. The other winner here is the high schools, who will receive funding up to $5000.00 for their music programs if the band reaches the final 10.
